We were priviledged to host a team from GIZ and the World Food Programme (WFP) during a learning visit to Arua, as part of their broader exploration of how communities are utilizing renewal energy initiatives focusing on solar water pump.
As Omia Agribusiness, we showcased the transformative power of renewable energy and how it is being applied in agriculture, particularly through solar-powered irrigation.
The visit to Oudredri Farmer Group in Bidi Bidi Refugee Settlement, Yumbe District, one of the groups we’ve supported with irrigation kits highlighted the impact of partnership with the World Food Programme and Tulima Solar.

While it’s currently rain season, the group had tremendous off-season production and have continued their dedication to good agronomic practices, such as mulching, trenching for water conservation, and standard pruning. The farmers also demonstrated a solid grasp of cost-benefit analysis and projected yields.
We’re happy to support this committed farmer group and to contribute to the adoption of renewable energy in resilient and year round farming systems.
