Farmers First
“My grandfather used to say that once in your life you need a doctor, a lawyer, a
policeman, and a preacher. But every day, three times a day, you need a farmer.

DIMA PETER MINTING MILLIONS FROM TOMOTOES
In Adjumani District, Opejo Parish, Eragi Village, Mr. Dima Peter, one of the farmers that we serve, has witnessed remarkable
success in tomato growing.
Just like many farmers, Mr. Dima was not certain about what to venture into as someone who was aiming to produce not only for subsistence consumption but also
for sale.
However, after consultation with Omia Agribusiness Extension Officers, who are based within Communities, he settled for
Tomatoes and bought quality inputs from Omia Agribusiness at a farmer-friendly cost.
The Extension Officers kept in close contact with Dima, advising him on the best agronomic practices related to tomato growing like staking

Dima is not just recouping. He is realizing profits. This will improve his livelihood and enable him to take care of his family and other responsibilities at his hands. Farming is surely a very lucrative venture and Omia Agribusiness is open to supporting farmers.
COMMUNITY OUTREACH
30 FARMERS IN KUBALA BENEFIT FROM OMIA AGRIBUSINESS TRAINING ON POULTRY MANAGEMENT
On the 29th and 30th of September, 2025, Omia Agribusiness Animal Health and Nutrition Officer, Mr. Alema Alfred conducted a two-day training with a group of 30 farmers from Kubala village, Omugo subcounty, Terego District, on poultry farming and management.
The goal of the training was to equip these farmers with skills, especially those on the best management practices for poultry farming. This would enable them to have the requisite knowledge and skill set to venture into poultry rearing.
To ensure that the farmers will have a firm grasp of poultry management, a myriad of topics were discussed. These included but are not limited to:
feeding management, water management, house
construction, breeding, temperature management, and
debeaking.
Additionally, hatching, feed formulation, and
Vaccination was one of the other topics that was covered. As a result, the farmers reported an increase in their knowledge base and a readiness to venture into poultry farming, as it appealed to most of them as something lucrative. Despite the readiness of most of the farmers to start poultry farms of their own, many of them still decried the lack of markets for the poultry products. However, their fears were calmed as Omia Agribusiness through
Omia Foods buys some of the products, like eggs and chicken from farmers.
The farmers went back with a strong resolve to change their lives through poultry rearing. This training was organized by For Africa. Through such trainings, Omia Agribusiness upholds its tagline of putting farmers first by empowering them to become successful.
