Animal Health and Nutrition Officer

What will you be hired to do?

  • To make sure that livestock farmers SUCCEED in their enterprises.
  • Must know how to correctly DIAGNOSE Animal Health and Nutrition Challenges. 
  • Understand all Animal Nutrition and Health products Omia Agribusiness offers. Easily coordinate with other staff of the firm to deliver value to farmers.
  • Determine farmer needs for the different Health and nutrition products. Find out what products can sustainably improve livestock productivity.
  • Assist management in sourcing for quality, genuine and affordable Animal Health and Nutrition products.
  • Keep records of all farmers served from the Veterinary shop and in the field for follow up and farmer support.
  • Keep informed on latest developments in Animal Health and Nutrition (products, trends, services and resources that help farmers produce more).
  • Communicate on sales, pricing and market information on the different products sold to management.
  • Seek for and record all feedback from farmers about products sold. Communicate this feedback to management timely.
  • Support farmers in field on how to handle animal Health and Nutrition challenges.
  • Occasionally represent Omia Agribusiness and Omia Foundation in meetings, trainings and other events deemed important for the growth of Farmers and the company.
  • Represent the Company in Radio Talk shows and other promotional events.
  • Commit to the attainment of all objectives of Omia Foundation and Omia Agribusiness.
  • Manage our relations with regulatory authorities such as the National Drug Authority (NDA) and the local Government.
  • Be ready to listen, learn and openly share opinion with the other Team Members. No dishonesty.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills. MUST have a Smart phone.
  • Excellent interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Excellent organizational skills and attention to detail. Be able to see the small details in things.
  • Excellent time management skills 
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong supervisory and leadership skills.
  • Ability to prioritize tasks and to delegate them when appropriate.
  • Ability to function well in a high-paced and at times stressful environment.
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and Internet navigation

Education

  • Diploma in Animal Production and Management
  • Practicing License and Membership with Uganda Veterinary Board (Evidence to show that you have started the process).
  • Experience in a similar position is an added advantage.

Physical Requirements:

  • Prolonged periods of standing attending to farmers at the outlet and in the field.
  • Ability to ride a motorcycle is a MUST as the position involves frequent field visits (at least 5 times a week).

Language Requirements
English, Lugbara-Ti, and Arabic is an added advantage
